Lance's eyes widened almost impossibly as they glimpsed the familiar binary trace of Zirus on the bullet speeding towards his opponent. The blond felt his chest tighten with panic instantly. How? What? Who? A million questions threatened to overwhelm his mind as Lance watched helplessly after the bullet left the barrel of his gun. Emeraude could instantly see something wrong as well, the slight Winwintarian's gaze flying open as she saw the unusual bullet.
In the crowd, various avatars tensed up as they observed what was unfolding right before their eyes. Confusion blanketed over everyone, from the unknowing civilians and the warring fractions of Firewall and Virus. Teeth gritting, green eyes flashing, Lance bit down on his urge to elicit any more sound that would reveal the extent to which the loss of feeling in his right leg was affecting him. The petite blonde surgeon had been too quick and too efficient in zeroing in weak spots and openings. Damn medical personnel, they were just too sharp. This one was sneaky as well; not that Azrael was any different but at least the dark-haired Winwintarian was on his side.

Drops of perspiration were beading on his temples as the gears in his head started going faster, as he very quickly measured out his options. He had to remove himself from the hold of her steel strings and put in some more distance between the two of them. He had to make her believe that he wasn't confident fighting close range. Emeralds narrowed as he raised his weapon, leveling the gun point blank against Emeraude's chest. It was now or never; he cannot risk the loss of his legs.
